Merritt in Buenos Aires!

Psst! What is this we see below? Is it . . .

a) Johnny Cash
b) a mime
c) NinjaBaby!
d) a Japanese Karakuri shadow puppetmaster???

Naw, it's Merritt in Buenos Aires! He just blends into the couch (but a flash reveals him).

We're in Buenos Aires this week with Merritt. He had no problem with the short flight from Neuquen, which was remarkable only because it was Merritt's first flight ever. He slept though it. Us on the plane; us in the apartment:

Today he exposed himself at the American Embassy! After applying for his passport, he was taken to the ladies room for a diaper change, and the bathroom door opens to a room full of visa applicants, who were offered a full view of a baby's bottom, due to the positioning of the American-made changing table. Sweet!

This adventure was chased by lunch at Piegari, a delicious Italian restaurant located in La Recova, a cleverly designed, reclaimed nook situated beneath a highway overpass and chock-full of eateries. Piegari is not cheap, but the plates are overflowing with tenderly prepared pastas and such. Put it this way: I make a point to stop here, even if I'm just in Buenos Aires for a day, and if I am lucky I am staying somewhere that has a fridge for leftovers (which they professionally pack in real, take-home "tuppers"). Once my sister and I couldn't finish the wonderfully Ravioli Scoffra we had split for lunch, and when we told the waiter we couldn't take the rest of the dish home because we had a plane to catch that afternoon, the waiter insisted, and the plastic container he brought to us is one I have at home and reuse frequently!

Merritt napping at Piegari:
We returned to the apartment for a rest, and later on that afternoon, we wandered out for gelato at Un Altra Volta, my new favorite Buenos Aires heladeria. The Chocolate Nero is a silky, rich confection with a clean cocoa flavor. Then we turned in for an early evening and to plan our week.
